about MIMO

I created MIMO because I was tired of seeing Japan reduced to trends.
For years, I worked with international high-end clientele who trusted my judgment.
They didn’t ask for what was popular.
They asked for what was worth it.
That difference matters.
Taste is not about price.
It is about discernment.
Some of the most expensive restaurants are forgettable.
Some of the most modest places are unforgettable.
The difference is selection.
MIMO is built on the same standard I use in my own life.
If a place isn’t worth my time or money, it doesn’t make the list.
Not because it’s famous.
Not because it’s trending.
But because it’s right.
As a Japanese curator, I believe who tells the story of Japan matters.
Matcha, sushi, and samurai are part of Japan —
but they are not the whole story.
MIMO focuses on a quieter Japan.
A Japan shaped by time, use, and everyday life.
This is not a mass-market guide.
It is a filter.
My filter.
For travelers who value quality over hype.
